The Natrona Collective Health Trust is thrilled to welcome Dr. Melissa Knudson-Johnson as the newest member of its board of directors.

Dr. Knudson-Johnson was selected from over a dozen applicants who responded to the Trust’s recent call for board candidates. Her decision to apply was inspired by her profession’s alignment with the Trust’s mission of building the foundation for lifelong health among Natrona County residents, particularly the community’s youth.

“When the opening for the position on the board presented itself, I thought it would be an opportunity for me to help serve the community,” she said.

As a board-certified pediatrician and internist, Dr. Knudson-Johnson has practiced in Casper for nine years, providing care to both adults and pediatric patients. With the retirement of other pediatric physicians in town, she recognized the growing need for pediatric care in the community and shifted her focus to concentrate on that population. She currently practices at Children 1st Pediatrics in Casper.

As she looks ahead to her term on the board, she’s most driven by the Trust’s focus on youth mental health.

“Our adolescent population is really struggling,” she said. “Mental health has affected so many people in our community, and we do not have the resources to treat all of them, so this is an area that is near and dear to my heart.”

Dr. Knudson-Johnson also has a personal connection with the mission, as she and her husband raise their three children (and three dogs) in Casper.

Our Trust’s board membership represents the diverse voices of Natrona County. As required in our bylaws, each board member is a resident of Natrona County, with seven members appointed by the board itself and two appointed by the Natrona County Commission.
