The Natrona Collective Health Trust is pleased to announce the release of the Independent Monitor Report by PYA, a leading healthcare consulting firm. This comprehensive assessment evaluates Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s (WMC) adherence to the commitments established during the acquisition agreement in 2020.
As part of its oversight role, the Trust engaged PYA to ensure that Banner Health is meeting its transaction commitments, particularly in maintaining essential healthcare services and promoting community health.
Key Findings of the Report:
- Strong Commitment to Compliance: The report highlights that Banner WMC has met or exceeded a majority of the transaction covenants, especially in operations and service delivery.
- Maintenance of Essential Services: Fifteen critical services, including trauma care, cardiovascular care, and maternity care, have been maintained at or above pre-Banner levels, reflecting a commitment to retaining essential healthcare options for the community.
- New Programs and Innovations: The introduction of new services, such as electrophysiology and advanced surgical procedures, demonstrates Banner WMC’s role as a regional healthcare hub.
- Focus on Patient Safety and Quality: PYA has confirmed that Banner WMC operates within a framework prioritizing quality, safety, and patient satisfaction, with quality metrics showing stability or improvement since the acquisition.
“We are pleased with the results of PYA’s work, which reflects Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s commitment to health in our community,” Trust Board Chair Eric Nelson said. “The Trust remains committed to working closely with Banner WMC to ensure our residents receive the highest level of care possible.”
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with Banner Wyoming Medical Center and the Natrona Collective Health Trust,” said Shannon Sumner, PYA Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Principal. “Since February, PYA’s team has worked to independently assess compliance by Banner, and we’re pleased to have provided a thorough assessment. We look forward to future opportunities to assist.”
Looking Ahead:
While the report highlights Banner WMC’s successes, it also identifies areas for improvement, such as enhancing the effectiveness of the Wyoming Advisory Board and clarifying capital expenditure allocations. The Trust is committed to collaborating with Banner WMC to address these challenges and continuously improve healthcare services for our community.
Representatives from the Trust and PYA will present the independent monitor report to the Natrona County Commission today at 2:30pm. The full report is available on the Natrona Collective Health Trust’s website as Appendix I to the Trust’s 2024 Transaction Report.
