Casper Boxing Club: Building Champions Inside and Outside the Ring

At the Natrona Collective Health Trust, we’re proud to support a variety of organizations that help young people grow up healthy and resilient. One of the ways we do that is by investing in organizations that create positive childhood experiences (PCEs) – the kinds of meaningful, safe and supportive relationships that help young people thrive. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Casper Boxing Club, a place that offers more than just boxing – it’s a source of mentorship, connection, and confidence for local youth.

The Trust has been partnering with the Casper Boxing Club since 2023, and they were recently awarded a 2-year general operating grant for their PCEs work in our 2025 spring grant cycle. These flexible, multi-year grants are designed to strengthen the organizations that are making a lasting impact in our community – organizations just like Casper Boxing Club.

As we launch our fall grant cycle, we wanted to highlight the Casper Boxing Club to showcase how unrestricted funding can help nonprofits grow and deepen their impact.

More Than a gym: A second chance

The Club fulfills its PCEs work through mentoring youth and helping them develop coping skills, confidence and a strong sense of self – all within a structured, welcoming environment where kids and teens can grow not just as athletes, but as capable, self-assured individuals.

From the outside, Casper Boxing Club might appear to be just another gym – but step inside, and it quickly becomes clear that it’s something far more meaningful. Thanks to the dedication of owners Gloria and Clayton Jensen, this space has become a refuge for young people, especially those who’ve been underestimated or overlooked. For decades, the club has provided not just athletic training, but life-changing support that extends into families and communities.

Many of the youth who walk through the club’s doors are facing serious challenges. Some are referred by the courts, others are navigating difficult personal histories. Often seen as troublemakers, these kids are given a fresh start at Casper Boxing Club. Here, they are treated with dignity and encouraged to recognize their own potential.

Gloria and Clayton know that these young people are often battling far more than what’s visible. The goal isn’t simply to teach them how to box- it’s to show them how to channel their emotions, manage stress and discover their own strength. Inside the ring, they learn how to persevere through challenges, practice restraint and understand the value of asking for help.

Transformative stories

Take, for example, a 16-year-old boy who arrived at the club gripped by anxiety after enduring relentless bullying. He was so fearful at school that he required an escort to move between classes. Hoping to find a breakthrough, his mother brought him to the gym.

At first, he attended just twice a week. But within months, the transformation was undeniable. School counselors reported that he was walking the halls alone with confidence- and in the gym, he was sparring. The message they sent to Gloria and Clayton was simple: “Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it.”

This story is just one of many that highlights how the club builds not just physical strength, but emotional resilience and self-belief.

A place to grow

At Casper Boxing Club, youth discover more than athletic skills. They learn discipline, perseverance and how to channel their energy constructively. The atmosphere nurtures both body and mind, helping kids understand themselves and their capabilities.

Clayton acts as a mentor, offering guidance that stretches far beyond the ring. On weekends, kids often reach out asking for access to the gym, and Gloria and Clayton make time- because they know the gym has become a second home.

Many young people leave behind destructive behaviors thanks to the structure and accountability the club provides. It’s not just a workout- it’s preparation for life.

Programs for every level

A key part of the club’s success is its inclusive programming. Whether you’re a child, teen, or adult, there’s a place for you.

  • Youth Programs: Young athletes learn the fundamentals of boxing- technique, footwork, conditioning- alongside vital life skills like discipline and sportsmanship.
  • Adult Programs: Adults enjoy a full-body workout that builds both physical strength and mental toughness while offering a great outlet for stress relief.
  • Competitive Training: For aspiring competitors, the club provides advanced training tailored to preparing athletes for local, regional, and national competitions.
