This summer, young people in Natrona County will take the reins of philanthropy in an innovative week-long experience hosted by the Natrona Collective Health Trust. Youth Takeover Week, happening July 28 through August 2, invites selected local youth ages 14–20 to fully lead the grantmaking process—determining how real dollars are spent to support youth-centered “third spaces” across the community.
Third spaces—places to hang out, relax, connect, and build community—are critical for youth wellbeing. During this program, participants will define what these spaces should look like, gather feedback from peers, review real grant proposals, and ultimately decide where funding should go.
“This is more than just a learning opportunity—it’s about giving young people real decision-making power,” said Leanne Loya, Program Officer at the Trust. “We’re putting the future in the hands of those who are living it now.”
Young people who are curious, open-minded, and ready to lead—whether it’s their first time or not—are encouraged to apply. You don’t need experience in grantmaking or leadership—just a desire to make a difference for youth in your community.
Selected participants will receive a stipend for their time and contributions. The week runs Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 3 PM daily, with lunch provided each day.
Adults—parents, educators, mentors, and community members—are also encouraged to share this opportunity with young people who would be a great fit.
Applications are open now and due by June 27. Click here for more information and a link to apply!
